I, the undersigned, wish to volunteer with St. Francis Society Animal Rescue ("St. Francis Society") and understand that volunteering may involve risks including but not limited to:
I acknowledge that working with animals, including feral, stray, and domesticated cats, carries inherent risks that cannot be fully eliminated, and that I am volunteering at my own risk.
In consideration of being permitted to volunteer with St. Francis Society Animal Rescue, I hereby release, waive, and discharge St. Francis Society Animal Rescue, its board of directors, officers, volunteers, and agents from any and all claims, damages, losses, or liability arising from my volunteer activities, including but not limited to:
I acknowledge that St. Francis Society Animal Rescue does not provide health insurance or workers’ compensation coverage for volunteers. I am responsible for my own medical care and expenses in the event of injury, with the following exception:
St. Francis Society maintains a general liability insurance policy that may provide coverage for injuries directly caused by animals (such as bites or scratches) that are not covered under the volunteer’s personal health or other insurance policies. This coverage is not guaranteed and is subject to the terms and conditions of St. Francis Society’s insurance policy. Volunteers are encouraged to maintain their own health insurance coverage. Any bite or scratch occurring while volunteering must be reported to St. Francis Society as soon as reasonably possible.
All other injuries, including but not limited to automobile accidents, slip and falls, or injuries occurring during transportation to or from volunteer activities, are the sole responsibility of the volunteer.
Volunteers who use their personal vehicles in connection with St. Francis Society activities — including but not limited to transporting animals, supplies, or equipment — do so entirely at their own risk. St. Francis Society Animal Rescue does not provide automobile insurance coverage for volunteers and assumes no liability for accidents, injuries, property damage, or traffic violations occurring while a volunteer is operating their personal vehicle, regardless of whether the driving is performed in direct service of St. Francis Society.
Volunteers who drive as part of their volunteer duties represent that they hold a valid driver’s license and maintain personal automobile insurance coverage that meets or exceeds Florida state minimum requirements. St. Francis Society strongly encourages volunteers to contact their personal auto insurance carrier to confirm coverage for volunteer driving activities.
St. Francis Society Animal Rescue does not reimburse volunteers for mileage, fuel, tolls, parking, or other transportation costs incurred in connection with volunteer activities. However, volunteers who use their personal vehicles in service of a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization may be eligible to deduct unreimbursed mileage on their federal income tax return.
In the event I am incapacitated and unable to speak for myself, I authorize St. Francis Society to consent to emergency medical treatment on my behalf.
St. Francis Society Animal Rescue may occasionally photograph or video volunteers during the course of their volunteer activities for use in promotional, educational, and fundraising materials, including but not limited to social media, website content, newsletters, and print materials. St. Francis Society Animal Rescue may use photos and/or videos of me, including images of my pet, in promotional and educational materials without compensation.
