Good Samaritan Foster Agreement

For Rescuers or Self-Initiated Fosters who are not St Francis volunteers.

This Agreement is entered into between St. Francis Society Animal Rescue (“St. Francis”) and the Good Samaritan Foster (“GS Foster”), who has personally requested help and partnership from St. Francis in their foster and adoption journey. The GS Foster is providing support for a specific situation and does not intend to become a regular St. Francis Foster Volunteer. As such, they do not undergo the standard vetting process or receive the same access and benefits as official St. Francis volunteers.

This Agreement outlines the mutual responsibilities and expectations between St. Francis and the GS Foster for the care, promotion, and adoption of animals initiated by the GS Foster. These animals were rescued or obtained by the Foster and are not the legal responsibility of St. Francis.

Note:

• This arrangement is available for one litter only.
• The fee for adopting a foster is $85 each.

St. Francis Responsibilities

Provided the GS Foster complies with the terms below, St. Francis agrees to provide:

1. Point of Contact:
   Francis will assign a Partner Volunteer to serve as the primary contact for the GS Foster. This Partner Volunteer will:
   1. Ensure the GS Foster is aware of and following all St. Francis policies
   2. Enter animal information provided by the GS Foster into the St. Francis database
   3. Advise on available resources
   4. Serve as a liaison for questions and support
2. Medical Support:
   Cover approved medical expenses for foster animals in accordance with St. Francis veterinary policies. This includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccines and disease testing.
3. Medical Supplies:
   Provide necessary supplies for preparing animals for adoption, such as microchips, dewormers, and flea prevention, in accordance with St. Francis policies. (NOTE: We do not provide kitten food or litter.)
4. Adoption Promotion:
   Promote eligible animals on the St. Francis website and social media platforms.
5. Adoption Exposure:
   Offer access to St. Francis adoption centers and events (coordinated through the Partner Volunteer) to help place animals into approved homes.

GS Foster Responsibilities

The GS Foster agrees to:

1. Adhere to Policies:
   Follow all foster-related policies and medical protocols, and regularly report updates to the Partner Volunteer for accurate record keeping.
2. Promote Animals Regularly:
   Attend an in-person adoption event or show the cat in an overnight adoptions center at least once per month. These efforts must be reported promptly to the Partner Volunteer.
3. Commit Through Adoption:
   Continue fostering the animals at home, following all policies, until they are adopted. Any emergencies or significant issues must be reported immediately to the Partner Volunteer.
4. Follow Adoption Policies:
   Screen potential adopters according to St. Francis adoption policies and ensure a St. Francis volunteer collects the proper fees and completes all adoption paperwork.
5. Alternate Placement (if needed):
   If unable to continue fostering, the GS Foster is responsible for arranging alternate placement. St. Francis will offer reasonable support, but the ultimate responsibility remains with the GS Foster.
6. Fees for Adoption:
   If the GS Foster chooses to adopt one of the animals for which St. Francis has provided medical care, they must pay the standard adoption fee and complete the adoption paperwork.
