Terms & Conditions*
- I agree not to declaw this cat/kitten. I understand that to declaw this cat/kitten is a violation of this contract, and agree if the cat is ever returned due to behavioral problems stemming from being declawed, (peeing and/or pooping outside of box or incessant hiding), I will be financially responsible for the future care of this cat/kitten while in the care of the rescue.
- I agree this cat/kitten will be kept indoors only. I understand that to let it roam free is a violation of this contract.
- I agree to be legally and financially responsible for the life of this cat/kitten.
- I agree to assume all responsibility for the well-being of this cats/kittens. To arrange for responsible care in my absence, and to never let this cat/kitten be used for experimentation, or any other inhumane activity, or to abandon, sell, trade or give him/her away.
- I agree to notify the rescue if this animal is lost, or accidentally gets outside and is unable to be found for 24 hours.
- I understand that if there are any health issues with my new cat/kitten within 1 week of adoption, I will contact the foster or rescue prior to incurring any vet bills. Otherwise, I will be exclusively responsible for any vet bills that I incur. I understand the rescue does not reimburse vet bills that I choose to incur without reaching out to them first.
- I will take this cat/kitten to a veterinarian for a complete medical exam within 21 days of this adoption for an initial checkup and any additional vaccines needed. I will provide the vet with the animal Health Record with my adoption records that outlines previous treatments. I understand that kittens need a minimum of 3 FVRCP vaccinations and a rabies vaccination by 4 months of age.
- I agree to provide all future medical care for this cat/kitten. All vaccines are current as of the adoption date but he/she may require additional vaccines in the near future. I understand that each adult cat needs a minimum 1 FVRCP and 1 rabies vaccination annually.
- I understand that cats/kittens needs time to adjust to a new environment. I agree to follow the introduction instructions provided to acclimate my new cat/kitten into my home.
- I agree to allow the communication from the rescue or foster to ensure a mutually satisfactory owner/pet relationship is established.
- I agree to be aware that the actions of cats/kittens are often unpredictable. To understand that the rescue makes no representation regarding the behavior or temperament of any cats/kittens for adoption. To release the rescue of any responsibility for damages to any person or property caused by adopting this cat/kitten.
- I realize that the rescue makes every effort to adopt only healthy cats/kittens, but the rescue cannot guarantee health. I understand that a move to a new home may cause stress-related illness shortly after adoption. The rescue has all cats/kittens sterilized, tested, micro-chipped and vaccinated. No other claims are made about the cat/kitten.
- I agree to transfer the microchip to my name within 30 days of adoption by going the chip manufacturer's website. (The manufacturer is listed in your adoption paperwork.)
- I understand that If I am adopting a pair of cats/kittens that have been designated by the rescue as a bonded pair on their profile, I agree to keep the two animals together. Failure to do so will be in violation of this contract. In the event one of the animals in the bonded pair is returned to the rescue or otherwise surrendered for any reason, I understand I forgo my rights to the other animal in the bonded pair. The goal is to preserve the bond between the two animals which is imperative for their health and well being.
- I agree to the Refunds Policy: The adoption donation is non-refundable and supports our ongoing cat and kitten rescue efforts. If an adopted animal is returned and you choose to adopt another animal from us, the adoption donation for the new adoption will be waived.
- I understand I will be added to the St Francis Society Animal Rescue e-newsletter, and that I can opt out at any time.
- If I allow myself and any other member(s) of my family, including minors, to be photographed with my new pet(s), I give the rescue permission to use the photo(s) in their promotional materials.
- I agree that if I void this contract in anyway, any and all other adoption contracts entered into with the rescue are also voided and those pets must be surrendered upon request.
- I understand that if the cat/kitten is not being cared for properly (lack of food/water/shelter/medical care, free roaming or any form of neglect), St Francis has the right to reclaim the cat/kitten.
- I agree to the Return Policy outlined below. • If your new cat/kitten does not get along with existing pets or members of your family right away please give him/her the appropriate time to get comfortable. Under this contractual agreement you are promising a minimum of 21 days to allow the cat/kitten to get used to the new home, sounds, smells, other pets and family members. • St. Francis will accept the return of adopted cats up to 3 months after adoption. • After 3 months, we ask you to first reach out to trusted family or friends to explore safe rehoming options. If you are unable to find a placement, please contact us before surrendering the animal elsewhere. We will provide reputable rehoming suggestions and resources, or you may choose to act as a foster, allowing us to list the cat on our website and utilize our adoption centers and events to help find a new home. • For all returns, our ability to take the animal back will depend on available resources and foster capacity at the time. Since we are foster-based, you will need to wait until a foster home is available as we move new cats/kittens immediately into the foster home where your cat/kitten came from to rescue others. Returned cats will need to be up-to-date on all vaccines, please provide all medical records to us when surrendering the cat/kitten.
- I certify that all information in this application is true. I understand that false information may void this application. I furthermore promise to completely abide by all the terms in this Adoption Agreement. I have read this entire application and understand that there are no promises or guarantees outside of what is expressly written on this form.
