• My story: I was found at a gas station alongside a feral cat colony, getting what scraps I could from kind-hearted strangers. An employee at the gas station said I'd appeared about a month ago and tried to make the place home, though the ferals didn't want me sharing their turf. One day, a St. Francis volunteer approached me. Well, I hopped right into her car, purring all the way home. In fact, I love car rides. The vet (who called me a "ham") said that given how friendly I am, I must have been dumped by my former owner. Only I know my sad story for sure. Anyway, here's to better days ahead! About me: I'm SUPER affectionate and love to snuggle. My rich, rolling purr is one of my best assets. At first, I was nervous around the other cats in my foster home, but after a week, now I fit right in. As long as I can have my own plate (soft food would be great!), I'm purrfectly content.

Spice Girl

• My story: This lovely mom of three was discovered abandoned at an apartment bullding. Spice Girl was pregnant and delivered 3 adorable babies, doing her best to be an attentive mom under her difficult circumstances. She was brought to the attention of St. Francis as a "feral" cat but she is nothing of the sort. When rescued to a home environment, the first thing she did was play with some toys! This was at one time someone's pet and then carelessly tossed aside. She deserves better than that. She deserves a loving forever home with a family that will treasure her always. • My story: Meet Tyson!! Tyson's foster mom spotted him one afternoon while coming home form work. Poor Tyson was sitting on the side of the road at a business, his head was black with scabies. Tyson's foster mom had no way to get him home that afternoon so she left food for him. The next day she drove by and he was still in the same spot so she stopped and asked the owner of the business if Tyson belonged to him. The business owner had not even noticed the cat, so she scooped up Tyson and his journey began. His head was black with scabies, the scabies were everywhere, even in his eyes. Tyson was on death's door! After many weeks of intense treatment his eyes opened to reveal the beautiful baby blues and his hair started to grow back. He is such a love bug and ever so grateful to his foster mom! Tyson's mom asked the vet to age him for her and when the vet opened his mouth to look at his teeth, they were rotted to the gum line. His neglect and illness had taken a toll on his mouth. A dental was done and all but four teeth were removed. Once his dental was completed his health continued to improve. Tyson has blossomed into a beautiful cat and deserves a home where he can be adored. Tyson likes attention and is as sweet as can be. • My story: Hi this is Deon and he was taken from Animal Services at the end of August 2012 with his two siblings who have been adopted. When he got home his new foster mom thought he was crying, but it was his breathing. So, into the dreaded nebulizer he went and along with some antibiotics he was cleared of the pneumonia for once and for all. However, if you are standing, he still fears that he just might go back into the dreaded nebulizer. But, if you are sitting or lying down he’s all over you. He is a very handsome tabby and he loves to play. This kitty will be one year old the end of May 2013. He has the most gorgeous Bengal like markings. Deon gets along fabulously with other cats since he is not seen as a threat. He is very healthy and is quite affectionate. • My story: Hi I'm Riley. I am a very special boy who was rescued from the streets. Unfortunately, when I was tested for FIV/feline leukemia , it was discovered that I am FIV positive. My rescuer was told that I can live for a long time in spite of my diagnosis. I need to be an indoor cat only and probably either need to be an only cat or live with other kitties that have FIV. I am so grateful to have been given a chance to find a forever home My rescuer's vet has been kind enough to let me stay with them until someone takes me home. I never knew the loving touch of a human hand before but my vet friends and rescuer all take turns holding me and loving on me and boy do I love it! • My story: Beautiful deep brown tabby with well defined black spots, almost Bengal like looking. Sweet white bibb and boots. Amani is a kitty who is very gentle with not an ounce of meanness. Pregnant at seven months and still just a kitten herself, she was dropped off at a Pasco County shelter, where she was labeled "feral", due to her being so frightened. Set to be euthanized with her kittens, she was picked up by a local rescue group. She has been in foster care for about 5 months and learned not to duck her head and run when someone comes near. She has found out that petting is good and feels nice. That beds are made to sleep and snuggle in. That toys are made to play with and there is always plenty of food to eat. Amani used to run when someone came close, now you can walk up to her and pet her. She starts making bisquits the minute you give her love. At night she gathers up her toys and places them on the bed with her. Amani is improving and will be happiest with a gentle, quiet home. She loves to sleep on the bed with you at night and loves to be petted. She is easily handled and can be picked up, although she has to trust you. She also gets along with other kitties. Annabell is very playful and will play with you and with her toys. She was dumped at Christmas and we were not able to capture her fast enough and this made her wary of some people. I am a young adult female and have been spayed and have my shots. My foster mom would like to keep me, but here's the thing. She has an alpha kitty who doesn't tolerate other cats, so she keeps me on the porch where he can't see me. She told me that he would attack me if he ever even saw me. • My story: This is Kat. Kat was abandoned as a kitten. A nice lady was feeding her on her porch but could not take her in, due to another sick kitty in her home. Kat would let the lady pet her, and kept trying to come inside. She is fully vetted, and Kat is currently staying in a foster home. She is already coming a long way, and gets up in her foster mom's lap to be petted, and loves to be held. She had a broken tail, so Kat has been through quite a lot in her short life, but she had the tail removed, and now looks like a little bunny! • My story: Their names are Schatz and Pepper and they are both female short haired tabbys from the same litter. They will be 7 years old in May and are both spayed and have microchips. Schatz is the one with white in the front and she is your “stereotypical” cat. She prances around and likes to look pretty and she will come to get petted or loved on when SHE is in the mood and ready =). Pepper is more like a tomboy and loves, loves, loves attention from anyone and everyone. She is definitely a lap cat though Schatz will lay in your lap as well (but when she decides). Pepper would let you dress her up, pull on her and pretty much do anything with no complaints. If Schatz doesn’t like something, she will just run and hide. The cats were adopted while I was getting my masters degree in behavior analysis and therefore many behavioral strategies were used with them =) They do not climb on counters or tables and will almost always sleep in their designated beds or cubes…no matter where you put them! They do great with kids and are good with dogs but have never really been around other cats so not sure on that one. They don’t do well in their cage (when they have to travel) and take a few days to warm up but are warm and loving after that. I think they would do fine apart but they are sisters and are always playing together so I would love to keep them together. I unfortunately can not keep them because my husband to be is allergic.
